• Shohei is directing us. It is Saturday night and the `Aiea High School varsity football team is playing against Radford. I forgot what song we were playing, I just know that we were playing as the pep band. I’m sitting with the rest of the flutists, between Julia and Kelli-anne.


• The music ends. WE ALL LOOK UP FROM OUR STANDS AND TOWARDS THE FIELD. SUDDENLY WE HEAR A LOUD VOICE SCREAMING IN PAIN.* Shohei: AHHHH! OUCH!


• We all look towards the podium where Shohei is standing. He’s holding his arm and throwing an occasional “OUCH!!!!” at us. We’re worried at first but then it seems to become obvious that he was exagerating his pain. Everyone is laughing, including non band members nearby. It was very funny. 🙂

• Jordon: Stacy BETTER come tomorrow! I’m so lost and confuzzled without her!


• Ms. Chun: Confuzzled? What does ‘Confuzzled’ mean?


• Lessa, from afar: It’s his word for confusing. It gets Julia angry.


• Ms. Chun: If that’s true, then Stacy is the one word MEANING of confuzzled.

Nicole: Hey Guys, do you know what those clouds over there remind me of? *She points towards a batch of very dark clouds over a tree*

Steven: No, what do they remind you of?

Nicole: Did you guys see the movie Twister?

Jordon, Steven, Justin in more or less unison: Yeah.

Nicole: That’s what it reminds me of. Doesn’t it look like the clouds could just come down as a giant tornado?

Justin: That wouldn’t be good. We’d all be hanging onto these poles [the hallway is supported by poles] for dear life!

Steven: Uh, oh! *He sits up and starts hugging one of the poles as if the tornado were coming*

Jordon: Well, it’s a good thing that tornadoes are extremely rare-*I stop when I see Steven and we all laugh*

Steven: I don’t wanna blow away!

Justin: Just imagine, we’d be hanging on for life, swinging in circles on the poles as the tornado passes.

Jordon: We could hide in the cafeteria?

Justin: Maybe. Just think, Nicole would be grabbing the legs of those pigeons over there [some pigeons were discreetly walking by] and shouting, “Flap your wings, pigeons, take me away!”

*We all sort of look at each other for a few seconds, and we burst out laughing.*

Renyn: Whoa, Bruce! You jumped the fence with your super kung-fu skills.

(NOTE: Renyn’s not exactly complementing me, that’s just the way he talks)

Jordon: Ouch. *looks at hands where there are three long cuts olong the length of my wrist* Hey Renyn, look at this!

Renyn: Whoa, Bruce! What’d you do!

Jordon: I’m gonna go home (at this point it doesn’t really hurt but I’m beginning to feel a small amount of pain).
Renyn: You’re not walking! Get in Ryan’s car! (turns to party) We’ll be back, we gotta drive Bruce home.

Jordon: *being shoved into the back of Ryan’s car* Hurry Ryan, take Bruce home!

Ryan: What happened? *sees bleeding hand* Hey what happened to you, Bruce?

Jordon: An evil fence.

Renyn: No time for that, Ryan! Go, go go!

Ryan: I’m going!

Renyn: Turn on your fucking siren!

Ok, it’s December, prior to winterball. Will and Renyn and a bunch of their friends in MCS are planning on going skating at Pearl Ridge Elementary School. So they all race to get there. Will and Renyn get there first. They decide to park in a parking space in front of a fence. Will decides to have some fun by driving his car onto the concrete blocks that separated the parking lot from the grass. As they drove over it, Will and Renyn bounced along with the car. They thought it was kinda fun so they reversed and bounced again. Soon, they’re just going back and forth over the concrete thingy, bouncing up and down. Nearby, people who were playing on the courts were staring at Will and Renyn, trying to figure out what the heck they were trying to do. Finally, Will accelarated too much and went forward onto the grass before hitting a fence. Inside, Will and Renyn are laughing. Renyn opens his door and they start blasting the music. The people nearby are just staring but then go back to their business.

Will decided after a short while that they’d better park before they got into trouble or something like that. So he started the car and began to reverse. However, the car door was open. Please refer to the diagram below (view from above).

Well from above you can see that they’re in deep kim chee. As they reversed, Renyn realized that the car was open and yelled at Renyn to stop. Will got scared when Renyn shouted though, and the car door crashed into the signpost, breaking off half of the door and most of the window. Will stops the car finally and he and Renyn sit there for a few seconds. Then they burst out laughing. “Holy shit, Will, you’re in a lot of trouble now!” Will laughs and says, “I know dude I know!” The people on the courts now rushed over and are yelling, “Are you guys okay? What the heck were you guys doing anyway?” Will, who is still laughing, replies silently, “We were trying to park.”

We’re on our band trip to Vancouver. Our band director, Mark Miyamoto, is giving us instructions. “…and be sure to meet back here on the bus by 8:30. Oh, and Brian* says that the restrooms are in that blue building over there. [pause] So, if you want to leave your mark, I guess you can.”

Yusharn stands up. “Hi Mark!”

(I realize most of you don’t understand what just happened. It’s an inside joke that only those who went on the trip can understand.)

*Brian is the name of our bus driver.
